I’m Daniel Baños, the 3D illustrator behind every project shown in this web. Virtus Magic is my commercial name. I live and work in Barcelona. I started creating 3D animations before leaving school (in the 1990s), fascinated by the possibilities of computer-generated imagery (CGI). I’ve been working as a Design Engineer many years, and it was not until 2007 that I developed special interest in History. My first 3D reconstructions come from that time.
I keep a great respect towards archaeologists, historians and heritage interpreters. I usually work in collaboration with professionals in these fields to contribute and validate my reconstructions because I did not receive any academic formation in these areas. I always keep fluent and regular contact with them in my projects, and learning from them is a great experience.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading History books and exploring historic places, particularly those with ruins and castles!
I’m not alone in this adventure. Everything concerning to financial&commercial matters lies in my partner Silvia Francés, a skilled manager and an important pillar of this project. Her participation allows me to focus my time in 3D reconstructions and everything that has to do with them.
I created VM with one purpose in mind: to arouse interest in History. In particular, History that is latent in archaeological and historic sites. Contributing to a better understanding of it and enhancing the visitor experience through modern technology is, to my mind, a good starting point. I am always on the lookout for new challenges, particularly those which present me with opportunities to study and learn new things about History. In case your project needs close and continuous collaboration with a 3D specialist, we may be good companions. If you need more information then please contact me. You’ll find my contact details on the Contact section of this Webpage.
